3MT Poster Presentation Prizes
In the 3MT competition, poster presenters are invited to deliver a three-minute presentation (plus 1 minute of questions for a total of 4 minutes). Through this session, presenters will succinctly highlight the unique aspects of their research using no more than four PowerPoint slides (including the title slide).
- The competition will be held on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 17th 2025.
- PhD students and Early Career Researchers (max. 5 years out of PhD) please register your interest here by Friday 18th April to enter the competition.
- Presentations are 3 minutes each.
- A limit of 4 slides (including one title/introductory slide to state the title, presenter, affiliation and credentials).
- The presentations will be judged for clarity of explanation, scientific merit and overall quality.
- Only those who enter the three-minute presentation session will be eligible for the prizes.

Industry Session Elevator Pitch – NEW for 2025!
An elevator pitch is a succinct, persuasive speech to get your ideas and concepts across. The purpose of this event is to increase dialogue and encourage students & researchers to identify potential business opportunities from their research findings and apply their knowledge to solve practical problems.
- The competition will be held on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 17th 2025.
- PhD students and Early Career Researchers, please register your interest here by Friday 18th April to enter the competition.
- Presentations are 5 minutes each.
- A limit of 4 slides: including one title/introductory slide to state the title, presenter, affiliation and credentials). The other 3 slides should focus on “the Problem”, “Solution(s)”, and “Expected Outcomes”.
- The presentations will be judged by a panel of entrepreneurs and academic researchers.
- Prize: UNSW Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre Industry Session Elevator Pitch prize, AU$250. Prize will be presented by Professor Richard Tilley, Director of Electron Microscope Unit.

- Journal of Nanobiotechnology Oral Presentation Prizes for best oral presentation by an ECR, $500. Prize will be presented by A/Prof Sophia Zi Gu, Associate Editor of Journal of Nanobiotechnology.
- Journal of Nanobiotechnology Oral Presentation Prizes for best oral presentation by a PhD student, $500. Prize will be presented by A/Prof Ruirui Qiao, Associate Editor of Journal of Nanobiotechnology.
- Biomaterials Science Oral Presentation Prize of £100 book vouchers. This prize will be presented by Dr Peter Wich, Associate Editor of RSC Applied Polymers.
- Nanoscale journals (Nanoscale Horizons, Nanoscale & Nanoscale Advances) Oral Presentation Prize of £100 book vouchers. This prize will be presented by Dr Peter Wich, Associate Editor of RSC Applied Polymers.
